Browplasty (Brow Lift)

The position of the eyebrows plays a significant role in how the face appears and how expressions are conveyed. Over time, the skin of the forehead gradually loses elasticity, while repeated facial movement, sun exposure and gravity allow the brows to settle lower. These changes can soften the definition around the eyes and create an appearance that looks tired, worried or stern, even when that doesn’t reflect how you feel.
A brow lift, also known as a forehead lift, gently raises the brow position and smooths the forehead to restore a more open, relaxed expression. Ms Tzafetta approaches brow lift surgery with subtlety, aiming to refresh the upper face without altering your natural character.
When a brow lift may help
You may consider a brow lift if you feel concerned about:
- horizontal forehead lines that deepen with expression
- vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
- a low or drooping brow that contributes to heavy upper eyelids
- brows that sit unevenly or create a closed or tired appearance
A brow lift improves the position and balance of the brows but does not aim to remove every line or freeze expression.
A considered approach to brow surgery
The brow sits at the intersection of the forehead, upper eyelids and eye socket. For this reason, brow lift surgery requires careful assessment of proportion and movement, not just skin laxity.
Ms Tzafetta considers brow position, muscle activity, eyelid anatomy and hairline placement when planning surgery. Her approach focuses on restoring balance and openness while preserving natural expression.
Brow lift techniques
Ms Tzafetta selects the most appropriate technique based on your anatomy and the changes required. Not every brow lift follows the same approach.
An endoscopic brow lift uses small incisions hidden within the hairline and a camera-guided technique to reposition deeper tissues and muscles. This method suits many people and usually involves a shorter recovery.
A lateral brow lift focuses on the outer portion of the brow. It suits people who feel the tail of the eyebrow has dropped while the central brow remains well-positioned. This technique often enhances brow shape and definition with minimal intervention.
A mini brow lift targets milder brow descent using short incisions hidden behind the hairline. It offers modest lifting with reduced recovery time, making it suitable for those seeking a subtle change.
A traditional (coronal) brow lift addresses more extensive brow and forehead changes. Because it involves a longer incision, Ms Tzafetta uses this approach selectively and only when it offers a clear benefit.
Ms Tzafetta will explain which technique best suits your anatomy and goals during consultation.
Your brow lift consultation
Your consultation with Kalliroi Tzafetta provides the foundation for safe, thoughtful brow lift surgery.
During this appointment, you can talk openly about what concerns you and how brow position affects your expression. Ms Tzafetta will:
- assess brow height, symmetry and movement
- evaluate the relationship between the brow, eyelids and eye socket
- review your medical history and any previous facial procedures
- explain realistic outcomes and limitations
- discuss risks, recovery and long-term expectations
This discussion focuses on clarity and reassurance to help you decide whether surgery feels right for you.
Recovery and expectations
Recovery depends on the technique used, but most people experience swelling, bruising and forehead tightness during the early stages.
Many people feel comfortable returning to desk-based work within 7 to 10 days, depending on bruising and confidence in public. Those with physically demanding roles may need additional time.
Exercise and strenuous activity usually resume after 2 to 4 weeks. Ms Tzafetta will provide personalised guidance throughout recovery.
Results continue to refine over several months as tissues soften and settle. A brow lift aims to create a refreshed, approachable appearance rather than an over-lifted or surprised look.
Understanding limitations
A brow lift improves brow position and forehead balance, but does not remove all fine lines or replace the effects of skin resurfacing treatments. Crow’s feet and deeper skin texture changes may benefit from complementary treatments, which Ms Tzafetta will discuss where appropriate.
A specialist, measured approach
Under the care of Ms Tzafetta, brow lift surgery centres on anatomical precision, natural movement and long-term facial harmony.
Her experience in facial and reconstructive surgery supports careful planning and results that age well over time.
Brow Lift FAQs
How long does brow lift surgery take?
Brow lift surgery usually takes one to two hours, depending on the technique used. Ms Tzafetta will explain the expected duration during your consultation.
Will a brow lift leave visible scars?
Ms Tzafetta places incisions within the hairline or natural creases so scars remain discreet. Healing, hairline position and technique influence scar appearance, which Ms Tzafetta will discuss with you in advance.
How long does recovery take?
Most people return to desk-based work within 7 to 10 days. Swelling and bruising continue to improve over several weeks. Exercise usually resumes after 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the healing process.
Will my expression look different?
A brow lift aims to restore a relaxed, open expression rather than change how you look. Ms Tzafetta focuses on balance and movement, so results appear natural.
Is brow lift surgery painful?
Most people describe recovery as uncomfortable rather than painful. Tightness and forehead pressure are common early on and tend to resolve as healing progresses. Pain relief medication helps manage early discomfort.
Can a brow lift be combined with other procedures?
Yes. Ms Tzafetta often combines a brow lift with eyelid surgery or a facelift when this improves overall facial balance. She will discuss suitable options during consultation.
Who performs brow lift surgery?
Kalliroi Tzafetta performs brow lift surgery with a focus on facial balance, anatomical accuracy and long-term outcome quality.
When should I consider a brow lift?
You may consider a brow lift if brow position affects how rested or approachable you look. Surgery works best when decisions feel calm and well-informed. A consultation with Ms Tzafetta can help clarify whether a brow lift suits your goals.
Patient Experiences
Many people find it helpful to hear from others who have been through a similar experience. The reflections below share individual patient perspectives, offered to help you understand what care and recovery can feel like in practice.
Excellent care and outcome
After doing much research I chose Ms Tzafetta to undertake a blepharoplasty in 2016, and eyebrow and neck lifts in 2017. She listened to what I wanted to achieve and my concerns, and fully explained the procedures, outcomes, and aftercare. At no point did I feel I was being coerced into having these procedures, and would have felt comfortable to decide to change my mind had I wished to. Having undergone these operations purely out of vanity, I did feel a bit of a fraud lying in hospital receiving so much care and attention, however, the hospital staff were absolutely fantastic and treated me as if I were a patient that had undergone necessary surgery. The operations all went well and have healed with minimal scaring which only I would be aware of. Ms Tzafetta has a lovely manner and is not at all overbearing; it was obvious to me that she is dedicated to her work and to achieving the desired outcomes for her patients. I am delighted with the results of my surgeries and would definitely recommend her services.
